BASIC ENGLISH WORD LIST
    Universal Language Project

BASIC ENGLISH (British American Scientific International Commercial), developed by Charles Kay Ogden (1889-1957).
Note the Britishisms: colour, grey, lift, plough.
All items are nouns unless otherwise marked.
Starred (*) verb forms are, strictly speaking, used only as nouns: instead of "I attempted to come", say, "I made an attempt to come."

Most of this was copied from: Jeffrey Henning (74774.157&compuserve.com) who was helping with a project of language translation, the Universal Language Dictionary project, which suggested the grouping enclosed.
